“Ping Pong Ba Dame” (Ping Pong for Peace in Tetum language) is the 2nd project for peace-building run jointly by the ITTF and Peace and Sport, following their ‘Ping Pong Paz’ program in Colombia.

Implemented in collaboration with the Timorese Table Tennis Federation, 6 NGOs, the equipment supplier Butterfly and the Global Sports development Foundation, the objective of ‘Ping Pong Ba Dame’ is to provide peace education and foster the social reintegration of 250 youngsters from underprivileged neighbourhoods in Dili, the capital of Timor Leste, a country which is recovering after many years of conflict.

Aiming to bring together communities and to encourage communication and sharing around the structuring values of sport, this project was inaugurated on 16-18 October 2011 by Peter Karlsson, World Champion of Table Tennis and a member of Peace and Sport’s ‘Champions for Peace’ club.
