JP, our @globalsportsmentoring brother, you are carving a path of inclusion in your country, and we are cheering for you every step of the way!! Hugs!! Repost from @jpmaunes using @RepostRegramApp – “It has been my childhood dream to participate in sports and to hear my mother cheer for me and hug me after each game. Unfortunately, she passed away. I was deprived of that experience because I became blind at a young age but I know, she is happy to see my performance today. I have been longing for that moment eversince but I finaly felt her presence when Ate Nora Malig Rosete hugged me and kissed me after the race. I was trying to hold my tears,I can’t help but cry. “- Marvelous Bernaldez Jorda, Blind paddler.

It was day 2 of the Cebu Dragon boat Fiesta in Cebu,Philippines on a hot sunny afternoon. Marvelous together with his teamates raced for the 250 meter, mixed small boat category. They finished 3rd among the 5 teams of their heat.

April 30,2017 was the day the first Filipino blind paddler together with his strong adaptive dragonboat teammates competed against the strongest dragon boat teams in the Philippines, resisted the Status Quo, broke the barriers, earned everyones respect, changed thousands of lives and made SPORTS HISTORY!
This is one of my favorite moments in this 2 day racing competition.

I shall never forget this day.
