🤝 | INTRODUCING | @proyectocantera

Proyecto Cantera believe football is not only a game but an ‘encuentro de valores’ (meeting of values); a chance to contribute to a more equal and inclusive society.

During games it’s not uncommon to see players excited after being brandished a card.

Because, instead of a yellow or red card, punishing a player for foul play, a ‘tarteja verde’ (green card) is awarded upon demonstration of respectful and exemplary behaviour.

That’s because they use the pitch as a grassroots solution to institutional failures that reproduce a cycle of poverty.

They promote values of respect, honesty, and team work among young people in Mexico City, who’ve been denied access to the basic conditions and opportunities to develop.

The winning team is decided by those that perform best at putting the values into practice – a result for everyone to enjoy!

To discover more of their innovative methods across local parks, community centres, school playgrounds, and on the streets of Mexico City, they’ll be taking over our Instagram this week.

Welcome to the team!
