It’s Field Champion Friday, meet Coach Carter!
He was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War before moving to California and settling down in Long Beach. As a coach, Carter spent 18 seasons coaching varsity softball at Jordan High School in Long Beach and 14 seasons coaching junior varsity girls’ basketball. Carter spent one season as the interim softball coach at Cal State Dominguez Hills University and has also worked with youth at various softball camps. He’s received the Dodgers RBI Coach of the Year award and is in his third season as a Dodgers RBI Up2Us Field Champion. He’s coached softball in the Dodgers RBI program at Algin Sutton Recreation Center in Los Angeles and Darby Park in Inglewood. In 2021, Carter will support the Dodgers RBI program and continue to coach at Algin Sutton as well as in Compton at Gonzales Park. #BiggerThanBaseball @up2ussportsla @up2ussports
